BHM nailed it. Make your movements mean something or don't move.
My only addition to his comments is an observation about the effects of preachers who habitually move about on the platform. They will step back several steps and then step forward several steps. Repeating this movement many times back and forth or side to side, they literally put the audience into a light trance. Next time you see any speaker making rote movements for minutes at time, look around the audience. Chances are, you will see people with dull looks on their faces, not because of the content necessarily, but because the rote movements of the speaker zoned out the audience.
